Announcing a New Mineral for the State of Michigan: Callaghanite!

Recently we had acquired some rather strange specimens of what appeared to be fire brick with blue coatings. Further investigation through SEM-EDS, EMP-WDS, and Raman Spectroscopy conclusively identified the blue coatings as Callaghanite, a mineral species never before documented to occur in Michigan.
To view our selection of Callaghanite specimens, take a look at our Callaghanite section.
